Introduction about the green financial bond invested by China CDM Fund
On June 5, 2019, the 48th World Environment Day with the theme of “Beat Air Pollution”, China Clean Development Mechanism Fund (hereinafter referred to as the CDM Fund), as a policy fund supporting national green development, invested the green financial bond, taking practical actions to support the blue sky protection campaign.
The green financial bond invested by the CDM Fund has a term of 3 years. The issuer is ABC Financial Leasing Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Agricultural Bank of China (ABC). The bond was issued in the national inter-bank bond market, and credit ratings of the debt and issuer are all AAA levels. Funds raised by the above-mentioned bond will be utilized within one year in accordance with the law to support the green industry projects defined by the Green Bond Support Project Catalogue formulated by the China Green Finance Committee (GFC), and the projects mainly belongs to the category of clean energy.
Projects supported by the green financial bond will produce excellent environmental benefit, which was calculated by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu CPA Ltd.（Beijing Branch） taking the method of calculating energy conservation and emission reduction amounts achieved by wind power projects put forward in the Guidelines for Calculating Energy Saving and Emission Reduction of Green Credit Projects issued by the former China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) and adopting emission parameters of thermal power plants listed in China Power Industry 2018 Annual Development Report of China Electric Power Enterprise Association. It is estimated that 571,800 tons of standard coal will be saved, and 1,372,200 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, 481.10 tons of sulfur dioxide and 462.60 tons of nitrogen oxides can be reduced annually.
Purchase of the green financial bond is the first business of the CDM Fund implemented in the national inter-bank bond market. The CDM Fund will continue to invest in green bond projects, showing actively support to national green and low-carbon development to build a beautiful China.
