Biogas Engineering Project of Shangluo Youyuan Ecological Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Technology Co., Ltd. in Shaanxi Province was Granted a CDM Concessional Loan

The Management Center approved a CDM concessional loan to the Biogas Engineering Project of Shangluo Youyuan Ecological Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Technology Co., Ltd. on December 27, 2017. The project was granted with a loan of RMB 65 million and can lever private capital of RMB 171.42 million. The estimated carbon emission reduction will be 72,846 tCO2e annually.

Shangluo City, a prefecture-level city in Shaanxi Province, the biggest planting base of yellow ginger (Dioscorea zingiberensis) and production base of yellow ginger saponins in China. The production of yellow ginger saponins creates a great deal of starch as by-product. The project will process the starch into fodder to feed pigs, and collect the feces from the pigs together with the yellow ginger residues to produce biogas and solid organic fertilizer through the process of fermentation, purification and others. The project will build a biogas engineering system, including the raw material storage, anaerobic digestion and methane cleansing, storage, purification and utilization and so on. By producing biogas to substitute for fossil fuel, it also avoids methane emission to realize the greenhouse gas emission reduction.
