On June 14, 2016, China CDM Fund Management Centre approved the concessional loan applications of Huangshi Dongbei Electric Appliance Corporation for the technical transformation project of the efficient variable frequency refrigeration compressors with the annual output of 2 million sets, and Kiamusze Dong Xing Coal Chemical Industry Co. Ltd. for its central heating project in the high-tech district of Kiamusze. The two projects will receive a total of 101 million yuan of concessional loans, which will leverage 247 million yuan of private funds. They are estimated to reduce carbon emission by 38,557tCO2e annually. The loan interest rate is 15% lower than the loan interest rate directed by the People’s Bank of China for the corresponding period on the date of the execution of the contracts.
(1) Huangshi Dongbei Electric Appliance Corporation: the technical transformation project of the efficient variable frequency refrigeration compressors with the annual output of 2 million sets
Household appliances such as televisions, refrigerators and air conditioners account for a majority of the domestic power consumption, with refrigerators consume 30% to 40% of the total household electricity. It has become the trend for refrigerators to adopt the variable frequency technology, which can significantly save energy apart from improving the performance, reducing the noise and increasing the life span of refrigerators. In this project, the new-generation L-series variable frequency compressors boast the energy efficiency about 22% higher than the old-fashioned refrigerator compressors while maintaining the same refrigerating effect. What’s more, the L-series compressors won’t deplete the ozone layer by using R600a working medium as the refrigerant, thus being more environmental friendly. In short, the products of the project help to effectively reduce the energy consumption of compressors, realizing power saving and emission reduction.
(2) Kiamusze Dong Xing Coal Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.: the central heating project in the high-tech district of Kiamusze
Currently the high-tech district of Kiamusze depends on a number of coal-fired small boilers for heating. They not only consume a lot of energy and are very costly, but also can only provide heating for a limited area and seriously pollute the air. The central heating project will pull down the small boilers to reduce the overall energy consumption effectively and reduce the emission of carbon dioxide and other exhaust gases and residues. It will also address the problem of inadequate heating capacity in the high-tech district.
