Vice-minister Xie Zhenhua of the NDRC Attends press conference on “China’s National Plan on Climate Change (2014-2020)”

 

In the past few days, the State Council has approved “China’s National Plan on Climate Change (2014-2020)” worked out by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). On the morning of September 19th, the press conference on “China’s National Plan on Climate Change (2014-2020)” was held in the State Council Information Office. Xie Zhenhua, vice-Chairman (Minister) of the NDRC attended the press conference and introduced “China’s National Plan on Climate Change (2014-2020)” as well as information on China’s attending the UN Climate Summit. Xie answered questions raised by the journalists on such topics including the main content and significance of the plan, current progress in reaching the objective of China’s Twelfth Five-Year Plan and restricting green house emission by 2020, China’s carbon dioxide discharge peak value, construction of national carbon emission trading market, exploitation of coal bed gas and China’s consideration of attending the UN Climate Summit. 72 journalists from 41 media including CCTV, China News Service, China Daily, Takungpao, Reuters and Financial Times attended the press conference. The press conference was hosted by Hu Kaihong, vice director-general of the Press Bureau of the State Council Information Office. Su Wei, director general of the Department of Climate Change of the NDRC and Shi Zihai, director general of the Department of Policy Studies of the NDRC attended the press conference.
