China welcomes application of a series of countries to join AIIB as prospective founding members

 On March 26, Turkey officially announced the application to join the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) as the prospective founding member, and has submitted written confirmation letter to China. China welcomes Turkey’s decision. As chairman of the chief negotiators’ meeting of the prospective founding members of AIIB, China is soliciting opinions from existing prospective founding members according to multilateral procedures. If its application is approved, Turkey will officially become a prospective AIIBfounding member on April 10.

 On March 27, South Korea officially announced the application to join the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) as the prospective founding member, and has submitted written confirmation letter to China. China welcomes South Korea’s decision. As chairman of the chief negotiators’ meeting of the prospective founding members of AIIB, China is soliciting opinions from existing prospective founding members according to multilateral procedures. If its application is approved, Turkey will officially become a prospective AIIB founding member on April 11.

 On March 28, approved by existing prospective founding members, the U.K. and Switzerland officially became prospective AIIB founding members on April 11.

 On March 28, Denmark officially announced the application to join the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) as the prospective founding member, and has submitted written confirmation letter to China. China welcomes Denmark’s decision. As chairman of the chief negotiators’ meeting of the prospective founding members of AIIB, China is soliciting opinions from existing prospective founding members according to multilateral procedures. If its application is approved, Denmark will officially become a prospective AIIB founding member on April 12.

 On March 28, Holland, Brazil and Georgia officially announced the application to join the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) as prospective founding members, and have submitted written confirmation letters to China. China welcomes Holland, Brazil and Georgia’s decisions. As chairman of the chief negotiators’ meeting of the prospective founding members of AIIB, China is soliciting opinions from existing prospective founding members according to multilateral procedures. If their application is approved, Holland, Brazil and Georgia will officially become prospective AIIB founding members on April 12.

 On March 29, Australia officially announced the application to join the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) as the prospective founding member, and has submitted written confirmation letter to China. China welcomes Australia’s decision. As chairman of the chief negotiators’ meeting of the prospective founding members of AIIB, China is soliciting opinions from existing prospective founding members according to multilateral procedures. If its application is approved, Australia will officially become a prospective AIIB founding member on April 13.

 Up to now, the number of AIIB’s prospective founding members has increased to 30, including Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Laos, Luxembourg, Maldives, Malaysia, Mongolia, Burma, Nepal, New Zealand, Oman, Pakistan, the Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Thailand, the U.K., Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
