Shanxi Province: the coke-oven-gas-based methanol and synthetic ammonia cogeneration project by Xinjiang County Zhongxin Coking Plant. The project is to install a set of production equipments with capacity of 100,000 tons of methanol and 35,000 tons of liquid ammonia annually, as well as a set of full low-pressure deep cooling air separation equipments of 6000 Nm3/h and ancillary utilities and supporting facilities. The project utilizes the excessive coke oven gases produced in the coking process to make methanol and cogenerate liquid ammonia, which is an advanced technology and saves energy. As the process is combined with the existing dry quenching power generating system to generate heat and power, there is no need to install new coal-fired boilers, thus effectively reducing comprehensive energy consumption and greenhouse gas emission while making multipurpose use of waste gas. As calculated, once reaching design capacity, it can reduce greenhouse gas emission by 12,726 tCO2e annually.
