Chinese vice premier meets U.S. public policy advisors

BEIJING, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli met here Tuesday with a delegation from the the Center for American Progress (CAP) of the United States.

Zhang said in recent years, China-U.S. relations have made continuous progress. He said China is ready to work with the United States on the consensus reached by the two heads of state by expanding cooperation in all areas.

Zhang said climate change must be an important area of China-U.S. cooperation. He expressed the hope that the two sides would expand the depth and width of practical cooperation on climate change and work for tangible results.

The CAP delegation is headed by John Podesta, former chief of staff to then U.S. President Bill Clinton and founder of the public policy research and advocacy organization.

Podesta said U.S.-China relations have global significance. He said the two sides should cooperate to address global challenges.
