2016-05-08

BEIJING, Apr. 19 (Xinhua) – China's central government plans to allocate 4 billion yuan in utilizing renewable energy for buildings in 2012 in a bid to promote energy saving in building and better perform a "green" development, according to a source with the Ministry of Finance (MOF).
It is noted that this year more focus will be put on energy saving in low-income houses, school buildings, hospitals and other public sectors, and that the central government will encourage local governments and all social sectors to make investment and further activate the market for energy saving in buildings nationwide.
China will take efforts to promote use of solar, geothermal and biomass energy and make them become important sources for people's daily use such as hot water and heat supply, said Zhang Shaochun, deputy minister of the MOF.
It is estimated that by the year of 2020, renewable energy use could account for 12-15 percent of China's total energy consumed by buildings, given that renewable energy are utilized in 20 percent of buildings in China by then.
This would contribute greatly to China's target to utilize renewable energy sources in substitute for conventional energy sources, Zhang said.
Since advancing demonstration projects for renewable energy's utilization in buildings from 2006, the MOF has provided subsidies accumulated to 6 billion yuan, launching 72 demonstration cities and 146 demonstration counties so far.
